Neue NATO-Militärbasen in Nord- und Osteuropa

Grafik: FriedensJournal Nr. 6/2024 –> Druckfassung 1997 wurde im Nato-Russland Founding Act vereinbart, dass keine ständige Stationierung von Nato-Truppen in Osteuropa erfolgen soll. Seit der Krise um die Ukraine und die Angliederung der Krim an Russland 2014 wurde dieses Prinzip schrittweise ausgehebelt. In den darauf folgenden Jahren wurde zwar offiziell auf eine ständige Stationierung in Osteuropa verzichtet, aber immer häufiger erfolgten Militärmanöver mit periodisch nach zumeist sechs Monaten rotierenden Militärkontingenten. Seit 2019 werden aber eigene US-Militärbasen in Osteuropa aufgebaut. Eine feste US-Präsenz ist derzeit bereits vor allem in Powidz (Polen) vorhanden.
