KML-/KMZ Data Format
KML is a file format used to display geographic data in an Earth browser such as Google Earth. KML is an international standard maintained by the Open Geospatial Consortium, Inc. (OGC). KMZ is the compressed (zipped) version of KML files. Google Earth and other KML-KMZ-viewer can read both formats in the same way.

Links to other Application
Every location in Google Earth can include Web links, which can be placed in the properties window. This Web link will be opened from Google Earth in an embedded mode, but this doesn’t work in all cases. Instead of an embedded view you can jump to a direct view in your web browser.
